Mrs. Muncy’s Musical Menagerie!

Music!  It’s always been a part of my life!  Both of my parents were musical. My father had a deep, bass voice.  Mom played both piano and organ.  She wrote many songs over the years and sang in several groups at church.   My mother started giving me piano lessons at age 4. I sang in church from the time I could talk!  Music is in my DNA and I live and breathe it every day!

Mrs. Muncy’s Musical Menagerie website and online store is a culmination of my songwriting journey and musical ideas as a musician and teacher over my lifetime. I am very excited to let you know that the online store officially opened on March 11, 2017!

So, just what is for sale on the Mrs. Muncy’s Musical Menagerie website and online store?  Currently there are 12 songs in sheet music form. The music is geared for teachers to use in music classrooms, elementary and adult choirs plus piano lessons.    Soon demo, background and full tracks will be added to the store for each song. More music, lessons and programs will continually be added to the store!

Here is a description of the 12 songs currently for sale in the online store.

In my elementary music classroom, I teach the songs “Go Fish” and “We Love Dr. Seuss” during “Read Across America” on March 2nd  – Dr. Seuss’s birthday.  Each year the beloved children’s writer, Dr. Seuss’ life and writings are celebrated and children are encouraged to be lifelong readers!  “Go Fish” is based on the book “One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish”.  “We Love Dr. Seuss” celebrates the rhyming scheme used in all Dr. Seuss books!

“Let’s Make a Circle”, “Welcome Song” and “Goodbye Song” are songs that I use in my elementary classroom.  The children love the ritual of singing these songs when they come to music class. The songs work very well for ages preschool through 2nd grade.

I had the privilege to study in Japan the summer of 2016 thanks to a wonderful Lilly Grant.  This year I have taught my music students several Japanese folk songs. In 4th and 5th grades I teach my students to play the soprano recorder.  I wrote soprano recorder arrangements for the lovely Japanese folk songs “Sakura” and “Kojo No Suki”.  These songs are geared to a bit more advanced recorder player.  I use them with my 5th grade students.

“Taylor’s Song” is a C and F position piano arrangement that I wrote for my great niece Taylor.  The song has a nice melody and moving eighth notes. It’s a fun piece to play and an attainable challenge for a beginning pianist!

“Hello History” is a theme song I used for a program by that name.  It is a fun opening song and works well in any history or folk song setting!

“Limestone Legacy” was written as a tribute the limestone industry of southern Indiana. Many famous building such the Empire State Building and the Pentagon were built from the limestone quarried from southern Indiana!  The song has a folk/country feel to it.  I have used it in several programs about Indiana and our local history.

I hope you enjoy the music on this website.  I am very excited to share this musical journey and online store with you!
